By Bud Shaver, Albuquerque, New Mexico- Abortion Free New Mexico's Tara Shaver and eldest daughter are in Washington D.C. for the annual Survivors pro-life training camp. It just so happens that the Supreme Court of the United States is set to rule on a landmark case, Idaho v. United States at any time. On Thursday June 20th, the Survivors held a protest at the steps of the U.S. Supreme Court to proclaim that "Emergency Rooms are not Abortion Centers," which is what the case at hand will determine. On Friday June 21, the Survivors will be at the U.S. Capitol building to hear from Star Parker, President and Founder of CURE, and will then go back to the Supreme Court to await the Courts decision. Idaho v. United States is the Biden administrations effort to turn emergency rooms in abortion centers using the Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act (EMTALA) as justification. Spokeswoman, Tara Shaver issued the following statement, "Emergency rooms already clean up after the abortion industry when women are maimed and injured by invasive abortion procedures. Abortions are not healthcare, they are elective procedures that kill innocent human lives. Emergency room doctors should not be compelled to become abortionists, they need to focus on patients with actual life threatening conditions not performing abortions that do harm to pre-born children in their mothers wombs. We urge the SCOTUS to rule in favor of letting Idaho do what is best for its citizens, by prohibiting all abortions." Please join Abortion Free New Mexico in prayer that SCOTUS makes the right decision and that our nation will continue to move forward in a direction that affirms and protects all lives from the atrocity that is abortion.
